Dr Carol Coughlan – MD FRCPI FRCOG
Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility
Dr Coughlan joined Bourn Hall Clinic having worked as Clinical Director at RotundaIVF at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. Dr Coughlan is an accredited Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. Her main areas of interest include Reproductive Medicine, Fertility preservation and treatment, Adolescent Gynaecology and Reproductive Surgery with a focus on surgical procedures to improve fertility.
She graduated from University College Cork in 1997 and completed Higher Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland before obtaining a Medical Doctorate in Reproductive Medicine from the University of Sheffield. While training as a Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine, she worked alongside the internationally renowned Professor William Ledger and Professor T.C. Li at the Department of Reproductive Medicine, Jessop Wing, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.
Her research findings on Recurrent Implantation Failure and Recurrent Miscarriage have been published and presented both nationally and internationally. She has a strong interest in minimal access surgery, particularly hysteroscopic surgery for uterine anomalies and fibroids.
She is a member of the Irish and British Fertility Societies, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. She continues to pursue her research interest in Recurrent Implantation Failure and Recurrent Miscarriage.
